Even if your energy is waning by 2am, four hours after you got into your favourite London nightclub, an eyelash curler will ensure that nobody knows just how tired you are! You'll look wide awake, alert and ready for anything. If you've previously only been a mascara devotee, eyelash curling can add a whole new dimension to your product. It allows you to actually get the same results that the celebrities on the advertisements enjoy, and also helps keep that nasty black stuff away from your precious little eyeballs! Here we do a run-through on using eyelash curlers to prepare for a fun time at nightclubs in London.

Types of curlers to buy
Metal eyelash curlers are more expensive than plastic ones, but work better and last much longer. You have to heat the curler for best results - you can imagine that metal will stand up to this for longer time than plastic.
Clean your lashes
If you have mascara on your lashes, the curler will stick to them and may rip them out of your eyelids. Not the look you want! Clean them thoroughly and then dry your eyes to make it easier to check there is no mascara residue left.
Warming the curler
You can use either a blowdryer, if you have one handy, or just the hot water tap in the bathroom to heat your eyelash curler. If you use a blowdryer:
- Use the lowest heat setting
- Hold the curlers several inches away from the dryer
- Turn it on for no more than five seconds
If you are using the hot tap, you should 'preheat' it - run until the water is as hot as it usually gets. Hold the curler underneath for 5-10 seconds, depending on where your hot water thermostat is set.
When you take the eyelash curler away from the heat source, make sure that it doesn’t feel hot to touch. Your fingers are ultra-tough, but your eyelids are not … if it's hard to touch by hand it will definitely burn your eyelids. Does NOT make for an awesome night out at nightclubs in London!
Clamping
This part's easy. If you want a fairly natural look for your London nightclub adventures, open the curlers and clamp them near the roots of your lashes for around 10 seconds. If you want a more dolled-up, sexy and stylish look, hold for longer.
Replacing the pads
You'll need to replace the pads on your eyelash curlers for best results around every two months, if you are a weekend user. If you curl your eyelashes every day, you should replace them around every month.
Bottom lashes?
It's up to personal preference, and the thickness and distribution of your bottom eyelashes, whether you curl them. Most of the time you don't need to - but if you want to experiment, do it on a day you aren't going to a London nightclub, to save you re-preparation time in case of adverse results!
