Another Year, Another City

Fifteen years ago I decided that I would bring in each New Year at a different city. I’ve been to New York, Vegas, Los Angeles, and several smaller cities in between. This year I have decided to cross the pond and experience some New Year's Eve parties in London. I have some friends that live there so I’ll be spending an exciting two weeks in England.

I have heard that the nightlife in London is very exciting; I can’t wait to experience for myself. I’ll fly into London on December 30 and spend my first night with my friends. I’ve booked a room at a hotel that is hosting a New Year party and will take advantage of that as well as several parties up and down the main drag in London. It should be an interesting way to bring in the New Year as this is the first time I’ve been out of the United States during the turn of the year.

I was told to be sure to check out some R & B clubs in the west end of London; they say the jazz is unbelievable. I’ve never been much into clubbing but for the sake of the experience I’ll have to do a bit of that as well I suppose. The travel agency I booked my vacation with gave me a book full of places I should check out while I am in town. It should be a lot of fun and I’m really looking forward to my trip.

The literature I have read explains that the nightlife is far different than what it is in the states. The violence we might see inside and outside the big clubs in the US doesn’t exist in London. People take care of one another and it’s a very friendly atmosphere.

I actually did some research and inquired about the biggest New Year's Eve parties in London and ordered tickets for two of them. I want to be able to say I was at the hottest party in London on New Years; bragging rights are everything. I would guess I’ll be sleeping most of January 1 because I plan to stay up most of the night getting my fill of what London has to offer. Seeing that jet lag will probably kick in about that time, I might be sleeping through till the third, but it will be well worth every second.
