Nightclub Makeup Tips: How to Use an Eyelash Curler

Even if your energy is waning by 2am, four hours after you got into your favourite London nightclub, an eyelash curler will ensure that nobody knows just how tired you are! You'll look wide awake, alert and ready for anything. If you've previously only been a mascara devotee, eyelash curling can add a whole new dimension to your product. It allows you to actually get the same results that the celebrities on the advertisements enjoy, and also helps keep that nasty black stuff away from your precious little eyeballs! Here we do a run-through on using eyelash curlers to prepare for a fun time at nightclubs in London.
Types of curlers to buy
Metal eyelash curlers are more expensive than plastic ones, but work better and last much longer. You have to heat the curler for best results - you can imagine that metal will stand up to this for longer time than plastic.
Clean your lashes
If you have mascara on your lashes, the curler will stick to them and may rip them out of your eyelids. Not the look you want! Clean them thoroughly and then dry your eyes to make it easier to check there is no mascara residue left.
Warming the curler
You can use either a blowdryer, if you have one handy, or just the hot water tap in the bathroom to heat your eyelash curler. If you use a blowdryer:
  • Use the lowest heat setting
  • Hold the curlers several inches away from the dryer
  • Turn it on for no more than five seconds
If you are using the hot tap, you should 'preheat' it - run until the water is as hot as it usually gets. Hold the curler underneath for 5-10 seconds, depending on where your hot water thermostat is set.
When you take the eyelash curler away from the heat source, make sure that it doesn’t feel hot to touch. Your fingers are ultra-tough, but your eyelids are not … if it's hard to touch by hand it will definitely burn your eyelids. Does NOT make for an awesome night out at nightclubs in London!
Clamping
This part's easy. If you want a fairly natural look for your London nightclub adventures, open the curlers and clamp them near the roots of your lashes for around 10 seconds. If you want a more dolled-up, sexy and stylish look, hold for longer.
Replacing the pads
You'll need to replace the pads on your eyelash curlers for best results around every two months, if you are a weekend user. If you curl your eyelashes every day, you should replace them around every month.
Bottom lashes?
It's up to personal preference, and the thickness and distribution of your bottom eyelashes, whether you curl them. Most of the time you don't need to - but if you want to experiment, do it on a day you aren't going to a London nightclub, to save you re-preparation time in case of adverse results!

Best Party in the World

I have traveled around the world doing business and have done my share of clubbing but I have to say that the best city to party in is London, England. The party always starts early and lasts all night long. The locals are very friendly and treat tourists as if they have known them all their life.

I had the extreme pleasure to be in London for New Year’s. There were so many New Year’s Eve parties in London it was hard to choose which one to go to. So I decided to go to as many as I could to get a good taste of the town and how they celebrated the turning of a brand new year. I started out at a restaurant for dinner and festivities were already in progress. It was such a friendly atmosphere; customers and staff were enjoying each other a great deal.

After dinner I moved on to a New Year party at a local pub. The place was packed as a band played live music and people danced and drank and everybody was having a great time. What I noticed most was how everybody was getting along so well. It didn’t matter where anybody was from; on this night everybody was from London. It seemed strange to not see a fight break out as people had too much to drink. There were no fights that I witnessed the whole night.

I moved on to the clubbing scene and hit a few nightclubs that were offering party specials. Every club I went into was packed to capacity and everybody was enjoying the night. London is a special place to be on New Years because it seems like every resident of the city is out celebrating; young and old all seeing the year in together. I liked how that felt and made a mental note to make sure I came back to London for next New Year’s Eve.

When there were fifteen minutes left until the official start of the new year, everybody flooded into the streets. The entire city was out in the streets of London waiting for midnight. The London nightlife was alive and well and the feeling was intoxicating. There was so much energy among the people. When the clock hit midnight fireworks went off, people were toasting each other, hugging and kissing each other, and it seemed to be no shortage of love. This was a party I would not soon forget.

Another Year, Another City

Fifteen years ago I decided that I would bring in each New Year at a different city. I’ve been to New York, Vegas, Los Angeles, and several smaller cities in between. This year I have decided to cross the pond and experience some New Year's Eve parties in London. I have some friends that live there so I’ll be spending an exciting two weeks in England.

I have heard that the nightlife in London is very exciting; I can’t wait to experience for myself. I’ll fly into London on December 30 and spend my first night with my friends. I’ve booked a room at a hotel that is hosting a New Year party and will take advantage of that as well as several parties up and down the main drag in London. It should be an interesting way to bring in the New Year as this is the first time I’ve been out of the United States during the turn of the year.

I was told to be sure to check out some R & B clubs in the west end of London; they say the jazz is unbelievable. I’ve never been much into clubbing but for the sake of the experience I’ll have to do a bit of that as well I suppose. The travel agency I booked my vacation with gave me a book full of places I should check out while I am in town. It should be a lot of fun and I’m really looking forward to my trip.

The literature I have read explains that the nightlife is far different than what it is in the states. The violence we might see inside and outside the big clubs in the US doesn’t exist in London. People take care of one another and it’s a very friendly atmosphere.

I actually did some research and inquired about the biggest New Year's Eve parties in London and ordered tickets for two of them. I want to be able to say I was at the hottest party in London on New Years; bragging rights are everything. I would guess I’ll be sleeping most of January 1 because I plan to stay up most of the night getting my fill of what London has to offer. Seeing that jet lag will probably kick in about that time, I might be sleeping through till the third, but it will be well worth every second.

Working at the Carwash, Yeah! 70s Nights at London Nightclub, a Prep Guide

Who doesn’t love a bit of 70s cheese? Only the people that were around in the decade and have the embarrassing photos to prove it. Whether you go a little red in the cheeks thinking about the decade or not, there's no more wholesome fun than a Carwash night at London nightclubs. These are more common than you might think -- we have a look at hair, makeup and fashion tips for that authentic post-hippy look.
What to wear
Bellbottoms and lime green are part of the memory of any 70s kid. However, there was a lot more to 70s fashion than just these base iconic looks. The caftan was big in the 70s, and while it certainly isn’t seen as sexy, it is authentic! Ethnic fashions were big in the decade as well, so look for pieces like kimonos, djellaba and jalabiyas (loose Eastern robes) for your London nightclub jaunt. Cheesecloth, trouser suits, and platform soles are some of the well-known 70s looks that you can copy.
Putting your face on
Go for glam when you’re doing your 70s night makeup for London nightclubs. Think silver eyeshadow, bright red lipstick, smoky colors and blood-red nail polish. Pencil-thin eyebrows were the order of the day, if you’re dedicated enough to the cause! Another phenomenon of the decade was blush -- much more often used than it is now.
Get ready to dance to…
You'll be grooving along to artists like the Carpenters, Jimi Hendrix, John Denver, the Eagles, Wings, Steely Dan, the Beegees, Led Zeppelin, the Who, the Ramones, Sex Pistols, Pink Floyd … the list goes on! Practice your air guitar for when the DJ starts playing Zep or Black Sabbath, and your shuffle bop for when the Jackson 5 comes on the speakers.
You can get into the spirit of the 70s nights at your fave London nightclub by hiring DVDs of the Brady Bunch or Doctor Who, and checking out old episodes of the Mary Tyler Moore Show. Be ready to talk about Frank Lloyd Wright and cognitive psychology … and you’re set for one heck of a party!

London Nightclub Soul Fridays and Saturdays -- What You'll Be Hearing

Not every nightclub is into playing hardcore electronica or the Billboard Top 40. You'll find that as more nightclubs spring up around London, there is also a lot more specialization in the sound and personality of the clubs. There are also a lot more clubs doing specialty nights for different audiences, and a popular theme at the moment is Soul Nights. We're looking at some of the classic artists that you can expect to hear, as well as some new stuff in soul that nightclubs in London are playing. Grab a glass of wine and put on your best crooning face!
The Blackbyrds
They were hot in the late 70s and early 80s, and The Blackbyrds will be flying high at Soul Fridays and Saturdays again in London! They are still getting heaps of listens and reviews on the top Soul sites -- you can expect to hear classic singles like Walking in Rhythm, Don't Know What to Say, Happy Music and Rock Creek Park.
Rodney Franklin
He's had a huge career, spanning nearly 30 years from 1970 to 1999. The Groove and Stay on in The Groove are some of his all time favorites.
Ozone
The Strut My Thang single by Ozone used to be hot back when your hair was permed, and you'll probably hear it dragged out to a few hoots at your London nightclub on Soul Fridays.
All4One
These guys were popular back in the 90s but are still releasing some heart-stirring soul tunes. You might have heard the new single My Child on the radio, from their recent album release "No Regrets". You'll definitely remember I Swear, which was certified by ASCAP as one of the greatest love songs of the century for the 1900s.
Independent Soul Divas 2: Tokyo Rush
This album pulls together a heap of hot female vocal soul, and you'll hear plenty at London nightclubs on Soul Saturdays! Lenora Jaye's songTimes are Hard, as well as You're All I Need by Lenore Jaye and Kelli Sae will be hot; soul's rhyming divas have gotten quite a bit of airplay on soul programs on the radio. You Keep Trippin' by Rena Scott and Can't Call by Razzberry are more contemporary style soul tunes.

Dance Styles for London Nightclub Chic

If you haven't been clubbing in a while … or perhaps haven't yet been initiated into the joy of anonymous sweaty bodies, belly-shaking bass and tinglingly delicious drinks … then the thing that probably makes you most nervous about going to a night club in London is the dancing. It comes naturally to some, but is a constant battle for others. Here we look at several dance styles that you can take formal lessons in to bring a whole new personality to your dancing in London nightclubs.
Breakdancing
Usually aimed at guys (heels, makeup and headspins don’t mix). Even if you don’t actually breakdance in a London nightclub, learning the style can impart some unique flavour on your contemporary dance moves. It began in the 70s and still doesn't seem to have peaked in popularity. You'll mostly use the toprock moves you learn in breakdancing classes in your fave night club in London, leaving the footwork, freezes and power moves for places where there's nobody to injure. But dang they look good!
Ribbon dancing
True Chinese ribbon dancing takes a lot of space, but the style is adaptable and very seductive in a nightclub atmosphere. Besides, having that prop handy is just the thing to allow some shyer girls to let loose. You'll focus mostly on twirls in ribbon dancing in London nightclubs, because tosses will quickly get your stick lost and trampled on! Incorporate the ribbon into the dances of people around you … as long as they know you’re doing it!
Swing dancing
This will be more for theme or retro nights, but since most people wouldn't have a clue about the Lindy Hop, the Nightclub Two Step, the East Coast Swing or the jitterbug, you'll wipe the floor with them if you do! Once you have some training you can start checking out different dance moves online to incorporate into your set.
Rave dancing
This will be great for regular Saturday nights at your ordinary nightclub in London. Learn steps like the Melbourne shuffle, crossing moonwalking and the running man from hip hop dancing. Practice the forms of liquid dancing, and use glow sticks and glow strings as props to help you loosen up into it!

Cool Club Wear for Hot Night Clubs in London

Especially in a city like London (freezing and very conservative), the nightclubs of the city are on the only places that most of us can let loose with our dress sense … and show off all those hard, boring hours at the gym! If you're hanging to flash some flesh, we check out the sorts of outfits that you can get away with wearing to your fave night club in London. Just put a coat on for the taxi home!
Bikini sets
Any bikini that looks extremely cool, but you couldn’t go swimming in, belongs in a nightclub. The fluffier, more decorated and themed your bikini is for an evening at your favorite London nightlife spot, the better. Leopard print is not too tacky for the dance floor, and even bunny ears can still be fun! Then again, why not just wear your swimmers? They're sweat absorbent, dry easily and will keep you cool. A most practical choice!
Open front tops and dresses
When you buy those tops that have two hanging panels of fabric draped from either one of your breasts, looking like they could swing open like a curtain in strong breeze at any second, you are actually buying two items of clothing. The top, and the Hollywood tape to hold it in place. I do believe even London nightclubs have dress decency rules that might get you put in a much colder places if the girls let themselves free…
Catsuits and bodysuits
They don’t actually have to have the cat theme of Michelle Pfeiffer's Batman getup, but catsuits in their various incarnations are big in the London nightclub fashion scene right now. Leotards with cutaways in various places look hot, hot, hot … they let you show off body glitter and they can be worn under a skirt or jeans as well as by themselves.
Long evening dresses
In a room full of exposed bits of skin, straps, bellybuttons and Hollywood tape, sometimes it is what people can't see that excites them the most. You can actually be the stand-out, sexiest girl in the night club in London by choosing a long gown instead of a Playboy bunny outfit. Latex and cutaways here look smoking, and even the matching trenchcoat and thong look isn't too creepy!

Party in London

After a stressful week at work, my friends and I love getting together on Saturday night and going clubbing. One of our all time favorite nightclubs in London to party at is the Prohibition Bar & Club. The club is one of the largest in the London area so we know that they have enough seating for me and my mates.

The interior of the Prohibition Bar & Club is as cool and funky as the music they play. There is nothing like hitting the large dance floor with my girls and dancing to the fantastic mix of music pumping through the room. It is hard to sit still once the music starts.

The first time I was ever at the Prohibition Bar & Club was for a New Year's party. The bartenders were great and it was nice to go into a club that had a dress code. As a single gal, I think it is great to see men dressed in trendy clothes and not in baggy jeans. That is a total turn on to me and my gal pals. That has made this club one of our favorites.

My friends and I have been clubbing all over London for the past few years and have found that the West end of London seems to be one hottest places to go. The nightlife here is always hopping. The drink specials are always great and it is close to home for us. We also like the fact that it is easier to catch a minicab home from the club, because they have a contract with a taxi company. This is a big plus when throwing back a few drinks with your mates!

We now can’t wait until Saturday night rolls around. My gal pals and I know that when we go clubbing in London that Prohibition is going to be at the top of our lists to party in. Hot guys, hot music and the hottest drink prices anywhere in the West end of London club scene.

Prohibition Bar & Club is now becoming a favorite club to party at with all of my mates. This club is one of our top picks for London nightlife. My friends and I have now decided on going to the Prohibition Bar & Club for one of the hottest New Year's Eve parties in London. We can’t wait to usher in 2010 here!

Avoid a Ho-Hum Party

Have you ever been sitting around on a Saturday night completely bored? Most of us have, at one time or another, been faced with a Saturday night when we had absolutely nothing to do. No date, no party, no movies, no nothing. The good news is that you can prevent those boring Saturday nights by utilizing one simple resource.
Much of what makes a party worth going to is how well it suits your individual personality. If you're into dancing, you will want to visit a party where dancing is a priority. If you're into swag, you need a party where swag will be included. Believe it or not, it is possible to find the most promising parties and the best and nightlife before enduring a trial and error process. One of the worse things you can do is go out for a night on the town and visit one dud event after another until you finally find a party that’s worth staying at. Unfortunately, however, this is how far too many people navigate their big nights out.
Let’s face it, everyone loves a good party. But most of the time, it's hard to tell which parties will be good and which will be total duds. If you're looking for something to spice up your nightlife, you should consider looking into a high-quality party database. Basically, a party database will provide you with information on which parties will be happening and which parties will be a waste of time.

The good news is that there are simple ways to tell which parties will suit your style and which ones won’t…the best resource for such and endeavor is known as the
party database. Basically, the party database is an online compilation of all the most happening and promising events taking place in your area at any given time. Using a party database means no more hopping from lame party to lame party, no more spending the evening staring at a trucker across the room at the Waffle House, no more feeling awkward because you and your best friend are the only two people on the dance floor! Instead, you’ll be up on the hottest places to go, what time to arrive, and even what you should wear.
Time is far too precious to waste. So, instead of spending your time roaming from one lame party to another, simply hoping that you would run into an event or person worth spending time with, consider looking online for a high quality party index. Yes, this is a unique concept…and one that not many people would think of. So, we’ve dedicated our time to getting the word out. You never have to be bored again, and you never have to waste time getting all dressed up for a party that will prove to be totally lame. Get out there and have some fun!

Resolve to have a good time this New Year's

My wife and I, along with a group of our friends, rang in New Year’s 2009 in right. We decided to celebrate in style and started planning in April. We ended up being glad that we did. We had a wonderful time. There were eight of us in total, and each couple investigated where we might go. After searching online one late Sunday morning, our friends found this Web site for London Groove and it was filled with information about fun clubs and exciting night spots. We ended up getting on the guest list to attend the New Year’s Eve celebration at Prohibition. It was an absolutely fantastic time. We listened to the sounds of Smooth RnB, Funky House, ‘90s Soul, Club Classics and others and jammed to some great mixes. The event was sold out in advance and the place was hopping with people. The atmosphere was electric, the drinks were perfect and the food was delicious. Because we needed to make accommodations for four couples, we were able to secure a private area. We all got a little wild and crazy, so it was a relief to have our own space. The ladies in our group got scandalous on the dance floor, while we gents drank a few pints, had a few laughs and enjoyed the view.

To our delight, the food that we ordered early in the evening was piping hot and fresh. Our order arrived quickly, even though the place was packed and there seemed to be many food orders during that time. I enjoyed a classic burger with cheese and bacon, which I highly recommend. My wife had a wonderful Caesar salad, which was divine. I had a few bites and have ordered that salad a few times since the occasion when we have attended Soul Saturdays. I was impressed that of the numerous drink orders we made, the drinks flowed freely and each order of cocktails was 100 percent accurate. The wait staff was prompt and courteous, and we never had an empty glass during the entire time we were at the club. All of the club-goers appeared to be having a lovely time. None of the people in our group witnessed any squabbling or brawling; the crowd seemed in good spirits throughout the night and the general mood appeared upbeat and positive. When you are looking for a great time on the London scene, you will find all the information you need to make it a memorable occasion through London Groove.

London - Places to Visit

London is a wonderful place to visit, but if you have never been there before, you can easily become overwhelmed with all the things to see and do in the capital of England. And, there are many more things to do while visiting London than could ever be listed here, but you will find below some highlights while you are there.

The home of London royalty, Buckingham Palace should be at the top of your list. At Buckingham, you will get a chance to see the amazing architecture, the beautiful gardens, and the famous London Guard at the gates. The palace is breathtaking, and certainly worth a visit.

Westminster Abbey is a historical and architectural wonder that is definitely worth a visit. In fact, if you arrive at the right time, you can observe the “evensong” service that takes place in the evenings. Or, if you prefer, you can pay for a tour of the Abbey.

While the Tower of London was once a terrible prison for royalty, it is now a breathtaking museum where you will learn its interesting history and the many legends that surround the icon. You will also get a chance to glimpse of the famous and beautiful crown jewels.

Hyde Park is famous for many reasons. One is that it was once the hunting grounds for Henry VIII, one of England’s most notable kings. It is also the largest royal park in the country. And, now, it is known for the many people who go to the park to speak their mind. It is sort of a soapbox for the common man.

Shakespeare’s Globe Theater will be a wonderful experience for anyone interested in theater, history, or Shakespearean plays. The birthplace of much of the Bard’s famous works, this current building is an exact replica of the original Globe.

The Houses of Parliament will be an interesting stop for those who enjoy learning about Britain’s government. You will enjoy a tour and a view of the buildings’ breathtaking architecture.

As mentioned, this is only a taste or a jumping off point for people visiting London. There is so much more to see: Big Ben, The LondonBridge, the many museums, and more. The key is to relax, plan your days, consider taking part in a walking tour, and have fun.

Party Hearty

Summer is rapidly approaching, and with summer comes time off school. At least three months of free time and the only question to answer is “where do you want to let your hair down and have some fun?” The problem is, in this day and age it's next to impossible to discern where you'll find the fun. Believe it or not, there are resources to help you locate some of the most promising social events of the season in a relatively short time.

If you're interested in attending the summer's premier beach parties, enjoying hot and spicy nights on the town with a member of the opposite sex, or you simply want to dance and let your hair down, looking for the right party will make all the difference. But where you find the right party? The answer is relatively simple, if you're utilizing the right resources. One of the best resources we've come across for locating the best and most promising parties in the summer is the party database. Party databases are designed to compile a list, complete with contact and location information of the most publicized or most exciting venue opportunities available in nightlife, general parties, and sometimes even breakfast parties.

One of the most common questions young people will face of the summer approaches is "what would you do this summer?" Instead of sitting around in boredom, why not consider utilizing a premiere party database to locate some the most exciting opportunities available to spice up your nightlife or your trips to the beach? You may also find it beneficial to utilize the party database to find parties and events that will take place in a location to which you plan to travel. There's nothing worse than visiting a new town with no idea what’s promising, having no idea where to go and ending up bored and alone.

If you have internet access and you can operate a computer, you can access a high quality party database and get information about the best and brightest parties. You should be advised that not all party databases are created equally. Don't risk wasting your time hopping from dud to dud when you could guarantee yourself a high-quality party setting with one click of a mouse.
