Saturday Night Styling Tips for Long and Layered Hair

It's a fun, easy, and also WARM hairstyle for Saturday night …especially if it's winter and you’re anticipating waiting in line out the front of your fave London nightclub! That's why today we are looking at styling tips for getting that long, layered, slightly tousled but still sleek look that so many celebs are sporting nowadays.

Blowdry

Blowdrying is not an optional step if you're leaving your hair long and sexy. If you fail to blow dry, your hair will dry unevenly. It will also usually fall in the direction that gravity takes it … downwards! This leaves you with flat, lanky hair.

Hairspray

Keep your hair sitting where it is supposed to, rather than stuck to your neck and face, by popping some hair spray on. A lot of people do this with their head hung upside-down - I don't recommend this, because it gives you somewhat unpredictable results.

Smoothing serum

Pop a little on the top to keep your do looking polished for the entire night. Be aware that you only need a tiny bit … or else you'll just look like you haven’t washed your hair, and will weigh down your layers.

Use hidden pins

If you know that your hair tends to fall down in your face when left to its own devices, popp in a few hidden bobby pins to keep it pulled back. Don't make the pulls too severe, though, or you'll end up with bits of scalp showing through your do. Which is sort of freaky!

Curls?

Want to curl your hair? If it's long and layered, separate your hair into sixteen sections - four vertically, and four horizontally to do the curling. Or you could just get a perm … takes about the same amount of time!

Bring a clip

It can be hard to know what the inside of a nightclub in London is like until you get there - will it be crowded and sticky, or cool and breezy? Bring a clip in your bag that you can use to twist your hair simply at the back if you want to.

Life as a Party Planner

I have a very lucrative business as a party planner and have planned some of the biggest most exclusive parties all over the world. People hire me to take care of all the details of their parties from the smallest issues such as napkins to the biggest issues such as booking live bands. I’ve been fortunate to be a part of some very big New Year parties in all parts of the world.

Several years ago I planned one of the most exclusive New Year’s Eve parties in London with a guest list of some of the most influential people in England. It took me well over four months, working every single day, to make it come together perfectly. One of the privileges of this business is getting to be a part of the outcome of my work. I got to rub elbows with dignitaries, politicians, and entertainers which is always such a great honor.

I’ve planned at least 25 exclusive parties designed around the London nightlife and I have to tell you it is always a pleasure to be in London. This is a city that knows how to have a good time and enjoys sharing that good time with many people in attendance. Many of these parties were theme oriented which are always my favorite type of party to plan.

Whether it’s an exclusive New Year party for the rich and famous or a birthday party for my niece, I always take my job very seriously and try my best to make the event one will never forget. I have so many great memories from the hundreds of parties I’ve planned and have literally thousands of pictures commemorating them all. I truly love what I do and hope that I can keep on doing it for many years to come.

London Night Life

I recently spent six weeks in London training a new staff at a branch office the company I work for opened there. I didn’t really know what to expect as far as night clubs in London so I was pleasantly surprised to find a very nice selection of places to hang out in the city.

I enjoy clubbing in the United States and had hoped the clubs in London would be as much fun. They turned out to be fun, exciting, and full of electricity. I guess I had imagined quaint pubs with guitar soloists off in a corner somewhere but this wasn’t the case at all. The music, lights, and dance floors were over the top. I enjoyed myself a great deal.

I was lucky enough to experience New Years Eve parties in London which is a totally different experience than what I have had in the USA. The celebrations begin early in the day and last well into the next day. The city opens its doors and the streets crowd with party goers who go from club to club sharing the New Year’s celebration with as many people as they can. It was quite a thrilling thing to witness and be a part of. I have to say the English know how to bring the new year in right.

There is no doubt that the London nightlife is just as exciting, if not more so, as any nightclub in the USA. The biggest difference I found between the two is how very friendly everybody is at the London nightclubs. There is very little hostility or bar fights like I’ve seen in the past. It’s a very peaceful and caring type of atmosphere and it makes you want to keep going back for more. I’ll be headed back to London in a few months and I’m sure to be spending some more nights clubbing in London.

This comes from an average of everybody's star ratings, and also takes into account the number of reviews a place has gotten. As is unfortunately the case with so many top-spot Yelp venues, it is also uber-expensive! Be warned that the ticket prices were too much for many people -- the club is popular but is said to be closing.

Chloe in Kensington

Chloe is the latest incarnation of a club venue that has been active for over 60 years (yes, they had nightclubs in London in the 1950s!), and has hosted the likes of Jimi Hendrix, the Rolling Stones and Tom Jones. You can sign up to the guest list via email, but you must sign up to get in! No walk-ins, and the guest list closes at 1 a.m. The decor is very, very chic and atmosphere is fun but refined.

Fabric

Great house and electronica tunes to be had at Fabric, through an awesome sound system. Don't go for a conversation, go for the bass -- and go with plenty of pounds in your pockets! Wine is £4 and shots are £5, but the venue is said to be a prime example of the club scene in London.

Scala

This is quite an intimate London club near King's Cross, also quite reasonably priced. Scala has a diverse music line-up and a great sound system, the quality of which can vary depending on your positioning. The club does have a bit of a cigarette smell, due to the indoor smoking section.

Electricity Showroom

The light up dance floor at this London nightclub is what keeps a lot of patrons coming back -- it has a glam and happy 80s feel, and is described as hot and heavy by many.

London Nightclubs - Are they Just What the Doctor Ordered? 4 Health Benefits of Alcohol in Moderation

Ooo, this is a controversial one! Doctors have been split for decades on whether alcohol in moderation is good for you, since those first landmark studies that showed the polyphenols in red wine could actually have a protective effect against heart disease. One of the major reasons that people go to nightclubs in London (and worldwide!) is the opportunity to have a dance, a chat, and hear some tunes in a sociable, yet also alcohol-tinted, environment. Thrombosis
