5 Fabulous Tips for Sexy Red Lips

Red lips and clubbing in London go together like vodka and cranberry juice, jam and cream, or perfume and lace. However, there is a real art to doing red lipstick … I don't know how many times I've decided that an outfit would look awesome topped off by a pair of pouting red pretties, popped the cap on my 'Cherry Pie' tube of lipstick and smeared away … only to spend five minutes removing the train wreck that results! If you want to do red lips right for your trip to a nightclub in London this weekend, preparation and proper procedures are the key - we show you how.
Create a perfect base
Creating a base for your lipstick is a 3-step process. You'll need to:
  • Exfoliate your lips with a lipstick-style exfoliant or lip scrub
  • Moisturise your lips - use a cream-style moisturiser that soaks in rather than sitting on top of your lips
  • Apply a lip primer to help your lipstick stay put, and stay perfect
Note that exfoliating and moisturising your lips to get them ready for red lipstick should ideally be an ongoing process, rather than a last minute task while getting ready. Keeping your lips nice is much easier than getting them to that state.
Consider how the rest of your face interacts with your lips
Colour matching is an important part of this step, but so is knowing how deep, bright and hard to go with the rest of your makeup.
You don't need to 'balance' out your lips with heavy eye makeup - just let your pout shine all by itself to avoid looking like a clown.
All reds are not born equal
You'll also need to pick the right shade of red for your skin tone. If you have:
  • A dark complexion: Pick a burgundy style shade
  • A yellow complexion: Pick a deep red
  • A rosy skin tone or a hint of a tan: Choose plum shades or true red
  • A fair complexion: Look for red lipstick with a hint of orange or pink base
Line and apply!
You're probably familiar with this part from all your other weekends of clubbing London. Just remember not to line past your natural lip line, or you'll look very unnatural!

5 Fun Cocktails to Try This Weekend

Are you a gin and tonic sort of girl? Haven't really had anything except rum and coke in the last couple of years? We often get stuck in a drink rut without even realising it - but this physical connection to your nightclub in London can really make a difference to how you feel about your night! Mix it up with some different cocktails when you’re clubbing in London this weekend … we've got tonnes for you to try.
The Grinch
This grumpy green Dr Seuss character may not have been much fun when he landed in Christmas world - but it'll put a little twist in your tummy, liven your wit and get you to move it, move it! Grinches are made with 2 ounces of Midori, ½ ounce of fresh lemon juice and a teaspoon of sugar syrup. The ingredients are mixed over ice, so they go down very easy.
It's a very simple variation on a vodka martini, and you won’t need many of these before you'll have to find a willing balancing post to keep dancing at your night club in London!
Angel's Kiss
If you managed to snag the best couch in a relaxed London nightclub, have your most elegant club wear on and are in the mood to chill and chat, the Angel's Kiss is the drink for you. It layers Crème de Cacao, Crème Yvette, Prunelle and diving rich cream in a Pousse-café glass. It's an art learning to drink these with a straw…
Sex on the Beach
If you've been going to London nightclubs for a while and haven’t yet tried a Sex on the Beach cocktail, there's no time like this weekend! It mixes 3 ounces of cranberry juice, 3 ounces of orange or pineapple juice, an ounce of peach schnapps and an ounce of vodka with ice. Nuuummmmmmyyyy!
Dog Sled
I usually order this drink when I'm alone, in order to avoid the smartypants male comments that are sure to follow … it's beautiful on cold nights, and mixes Canadian Whiskey, orange juice, grenadine and lemon juice.
